About
Our project supports the ‘Fix It’ petition by the Europarliamentary Party: The Greens/EFA, aiming to promote repair culture and empower citizens to reclaim their rights. While the EU is introducing a repairability label, the cost of spare parts is still overlooked.
To address this gap and boost petition visibility, we designed an awareness campaign with bookmarks, stickers, posters, and beer coasters distributed throughout Cologne, Germany. These materials amplify the petition and support our call to action: Reclaim Your Right to Repair — Make Informed Purchases!
Join the movement and sign the 'Fix It' petition!

Outreach Initiatives
The impact/effort matrix reveals that raising awareness is a highly impactful yet relatively low-effort initiative. By mobilizing public support and participation, this awareness can significantly influence legislative changes, making it easier to push for laws that promote repair services. This collective effort could lead to substantial advancements in consumer rights and sustainability by reducing waste and extending the lifecycle of products.

Touchpoints
By mapping various touchpoints based on their visibility and potential to spark conversations, we identified key areas where our efforts would have the most impact. In Germany, beer coasters emerged as a creative medium with moderate visibility but high conversation potential, making them perfect for engaging people in social settings. Similarly, posters in electronic stores and repair cafes were prioritized due to their high visibility and ability to catch the eye of our target audience, ensuring our message reaches and resonates with as many people as possible.

Testing
In Cologne, Germany, our team hosted a pop-up repair shop where we invited the community to bring in broken electronics for free repairs by skilled technicians.
While their items were being fixed, attendees engaged with our campaign, learning about the benefits of repair labels and how they help reduce e-waste. This hands-on event not only repaired items but also effectively spread our message on the importance of repairability.
As a result, we gained around 200 signatures in support of our campaign from this event.
